The Lithography Process
--> Designs with Primer
White primer or "enamel" as seen in BC's is applied as a thick white coating to the entire sheet. Primer can only be used for crowns that do not have any substrate or metal showing through the design. Primer is used to brighten a light color like the yellow in Guinness, making it pop. Or it is used to show through in the design as a very bright white.

As shown in the ink breakdown, first white enamel or primer is applied, covering the entire crown. Then orange ink and then the final red ink. The bright white primer shows through in the text "New Belgium" and the headlight of the bicycle.
